Helen Stevenson’s work is influenced by the geographical context of lives and the spaces where people live and move around. In particular, Helen is interested in how geographical boundaries and infrastructures define spaces in complex patterns of networks and grids in the urban environment. She redefines these complex pattern and scenes by using unnatural colours – altering the perception of the image and giving the viewer a new context in which to see them.
Helen works in an intuitive way through an evolving process often using lace and other materials to create patterns and decorative layering in both her abstract and more illustrative work.
Helen lives locally and will exhibit work at Carnival of Monsters that reflects the recent infrastructure changes taking place in Beeston. She is a past exhibitor at previous Carnival of Monsters.
